Educational Philosophy

The NIT Incorporated Educational Institution is comprised of the Nippon Institute of Technology, the NIT Graduate School, the NIT Komaba High School, and the NIT Komaba Junior High School. The foundational principle of these schools is “the cultivation of leaders who widely contribute to the development and cooperation of the world.” As an educational institution that enables individuals across generations to learn how to succeed in a wide range of fields, this principle is ultimately our mission. To fulfill that mission, the Nippon Institute of Technology provides engineering and technology education as a science university, the NIT Graduate School cultivates technology managers for small and medium-sized businesses, and the Komaba Junior High School and High School impart the scholarship and personal development that will allow students to succeed in many fields in the future.

The idea behind this philosophy is as follows.

Right now, the world cannot allow the unbridled pursuit of benefits that achieve development. Along with such benefits, harmful effects have also descended upon most corners of our planet. Moreover, the benefits of development are still unfairly distributed, and many people have not yet been able to enjoy them. While we cannot neglect to work toward development, we need people who have the balanced thinking and abilities necessary to fully consider the negatives of development while sharing its benefits with people around the world.

At the same time, we believe that our future society needs young people who have what it takes to be leaders. To us, the desire to be a leader is an essential condition for studying at our university, which focuses on engineering and technology. Our educational philosophy is to cultivate individuals who voraciously challenge their understanding, harbor a lifelong ambition for learning, and who take the lead in trailblazing through an era marked by intense social change.
